Sonya Jehan

Biography

Sonya Jehan is a Bollywood actress of Pakistani descent. Sonya was launched in the big-budget period epic romance Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story in 2005 by Akbar Khan, where she starred opposite Zulfi Sayed who played the role of Shah Jahan. Sonya Jehan?s original name was Sonya Rizvi but she changed her last name to Jehan in honor of her grandmother, Noor Jehan, who is a Pakistani singer and actress.

Sonya Jehan?s father is Akbar Hussain Rizvi, who is the eldest son of Noor Jehan. Her mother is Florence Rizvi, who is of French descent and lives in Karachi, Pakistan. She is the owner of Karachi?s only French restaurant, Cafe Flo. She was born in France had her early education in Pakistan, she did her O-levels from Centre of Advanced Studies or CAS. And she did her A-Levels from The Lyceum School. She received a degree in design from St. Martin?s College of Art and Design and is currently married to Vivek Narain, an Indian banker.

Sonya also appeared in a commercial for Lux Soap in 2005. In 2007 she appeared in Sudhir Mishra?s film "Khoya Khoya Chand", starring Shiney Ahuja and Soha Ali Khan and recently she did My Name is Khan, where she played Shah Rukh Khan?s sister-in-law.

She was also in the news recently as she was denied work permit to work in Abhinay Deo? Crooked opposite Abhishek Bachchan apparently due to her Pakistani roots, even though she holds a French passport.
