The Raichand is a rich family and stay in a chateau type of house in Delhi (where do u have castles like this man?). Yashovardhan Raichand (Big B) is a man of principles and beliefs, who strongly believes in continuing the parampara of the family like his dad did. Just like Yashovardhan and his dad had studied in London ? Rahul (Shah Rukh) too returns home after completing his MBA from London.
Once back, he hooks up with his old friend Naina (Rani Mukherjee) and they start partying and dating each other. Rani surprisingly has a plum role in this film and looks ravishing. Naina loves Rahul, but he on the other hand has not yet given his heart to her.
Rahul falls in love with a lower middle-class girl Anjali (Kajol), who is a ordinary girl with mischief on her mind. She is fun loving and bubbly. When Rahul?s dad disagrees to their affair ? Rahul marries Anjali and gets her mom to convince him, but his dad does not agree to their marriage due to which they separate.
Nandidni (Jaya Bachchan) on the other hand is a very emotional and caring mom who clearly understands her sons' feelings, but has little power in the house when it comes to such decisions.
Rohan (Hrithik) who happens to be in boarding school, is oblivious to this. He learns the truth ten years later and promises to reunite the family. God, what do kids do in a boarding school during holidays ? don?t they all go home! This kid must be an exception!!
Determined to bring his bhaiya and bhabhi back, by a series of coincidences, not only does Rohan find his older brother, but also finds love in the midriff of his childhood friend Pooja (Kareena Kapoor).
Like a typical Hindi film, this too has a happy ending with the family coming together.
