The plot of Kahaani Gudiya Ki revolves around a girl named Gudiya (Divya Dutta). Gudiya is married to an army soldier Arif. Merely 10 days after her marriage, Arif leaves his newly wedded wife to serve his motherland in the Kargil war. Things move smoothly and Gudiya is proud and happy to be Arif's soulmate.
Days pass by, and there is no news of Arif. He is even missing on the battlefront. Eventually, the Indian army allegedly calls him a traitor. It becomes difficult for Arif's family to take this stigma. After waiting for four years, Gudiya comes to terms with the situation and agrees to marry her cousin Taufiq.
Two years later, Gudiya is happily settled in her married life with Taufiq. Moreover, the couple is expecting their first child. But fate has other plans in store for Gudiya. Arif, who was mysteriously abducted and taken as a prisoner of war by the Pakistani military, returns as a Hero. He wants his wife Gudiya back, as he had not divorced her. Gudiya and Taufiq are now in a difficult situation. Gudiya too has moved on with life. As per the Shariat Law, Gudiya has to go back to Arif, though she is legally married to Taufiq and expecting his child. Gudiya cannot help herself and goes back to Arif, abiding the law. And on Sunday January 1, Gudiya dies in a Delhi hospital following a multiple-organ failure.
The story of Gudiya is no fiction. It is the truth and the story of many such Gudiyas in India. Gudiya did not have a choice to make. The story illustrates an emotional saga of a helpless woman - Gudiya.
