Anushka Sharma says there is more to life than acting

Anushka Sharma is currently at the peak of her career and has some major films to her credit. Her latest release Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which is directed by the late Yash Chopra, opened on Diwali and has received an overwhelming response from the public, making it a huge box office success. However, the 24 year old actress recently stated to the Indian press that she does not want to be in her current profession forever and has other ambitions and goals which she is keen on achieving. ?I think 10-15 years down the line I would not want to remain an actress. Probably I will be married and driving my kids to school. Appreciation is obviously nice. Our profession is such that it puts us in a trance while working and then we don?t realise what all we can do.?
Anushka also talked about stardom and what it means to her: ?Stardom is nice but because I am an outsider in the industry, I don?t want to get sucked into this too much. I have this sense of practicality that this is temporary.?
In addition, Anushka stated that she is aware of the fact that she will not be at the top of the industry forever. Eventually, she will have to step aside and allow the next generation of actresses to leave their mark on the Indian film industry. ?I think right now I am getting many offers because my films have done well. But it?s not going to be an on-going process. I don?t want to get delusional about where I am. I keep a constant check by saying that this isn?t my entire life.?
Anushka made her film debut in Aditya Chopra?s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) opposite Shah Rukh Khan at the young age of 20. Initially branded by some media folks as a ?one film wonder,? she managed to prove them wrong and went on to deliver megahits such as Badmaash Company (2010) and Band Baaja Baraat (2010), the latter considered by many to be her breakthrough film.
Anushka?s next film is Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, opposite Imran Khan and will be releasing in cinemas on 11 January 2013.
