Synopsis

Avinash (Kapoor) is a corporate type who runs a baby food company! Priti Vyas (Aishwarya Rai) is a middle-class woman, (with a priest for a father) working at a ?private firm.? Priti witnesses the stabbing of a school-teacher in public by Chaudhary (Rishi). Now, Avinash coolly drives onto the scene of crime and takes the stabbed chap to the hospital. Then, Priti plays the ?chashmadeep gavah? and has Chaudhary put in jail. But, Chaudhary gets out, thanks to his goonda clout. He then sends his chota bhai played by Puru to rape Priti. Priti?s dad wants her out of the house to protect their izzat and that of the remaining two daughters. Priti plays martyr and leaves home to turn to her friend, who appears for that one scene and then disappears. Enter Avinash, who preaches to all and sundry about how a woman?s izzat is not a necklace or a certificate, but that it stems from self-respect. He then drags her into his home and sings her a song of solace, so she?d finish her dinner. Next, he makes her the GM of the baby food company and before you know it, the two are getting along like a house on fire. Soon, she starts to play his wifey, albeit unconsciously, handing him his hanky, car keys and the mobile. Sometime later in the film, one conveniently forgets that she too been working and making a career, since she gets involved with Avinash?s ghar-grahasti. What?s that? Well, turns out, Avinash is taking care of his siblings Pinky and Rohan, who think he?s their dad. But, they are a product of his father?s aiyaashi with his secretary. Then, Khushi (Sonali Bendre) walks in from the Delhi airport, oops, America, to complicate matters and hopes to wed Avinash, her ?childhood friend.? Don?t you already know what happens next? Avinash weds Priti, who has also started to love him.
