Analysis

Audiences could reject this film because of a star cast not too hot at the turnstiles currently, especially the Akki-Shilpa that's, well, not really hot, right now. But, you know something? It's not really half as bad as most people would make it out to be. Dharmesh Darshan may have had a disaster in 'Mela' but has evidently put in quite an effort in this film. And well, it did take about four years in the making, so, well, don't expect too much.

It appears that the film is quite special to all three lead roles, Shilpa Shetty in particular who has not played leading lady in a film in some time now. Akshay Kumar and Shilpa sizzle in the romantic scenes and there seems to be tremendous chemistry between the two. The two look quite comfy with each other as husband and wife and even address each other as 'hubby' and 'wifey.' (Yech!)

Well, as far as performances go, all four players put in their best efforts. Shilpa Shetty, though is the most likeable of the lot with a sparkling performance as an attractive woman torn between the loves of her life. Her statue-esque beauty and screen presence are reminiscent of Rekha in her hey days.

The film is colourful and rather musical. Great costumes, good locales, in short, no efforts spared to make it look good. But, expect no logic here. No one knows what Ram or Dev do for a living. Who knows how Dev made "500 crores" and migrated to London and became the flavour of the month at hi-profile parties in Delhi. The cinematic liberties do appear rather unconvincing. In addition, the film showcases an age-old theme of the modern Ramayana, which may not go down well with audiences. Hey, this is the kind of stuff we've seen Reena Roy do in the early eighties. But, like we said, the film's really not that bad. Watch it if you think Shilpa deserves a second chance. And if you like the music. And, if you think Sunil Shetty can still prove himself as an all-round hero, this is it for you
