Swara Bhaskar

Biography

Swara Bhaskar is an Indian actress, born to Ira Bhaskar, a professor of film studies and Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar, a well known strategic expert. She studied English literature at Delhi University?s Miranda House where she was classmate with another actress Minisha Lamba. She did her masters in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Swara is the daughter of the outspoken critic Chitapatu Uday Bhaskar and the renowned cinema professor and author Ira Bhaskar. She has a sibling brother.

Before Swara started acting in films she was associated with N. K. Sharma?s "Act One" theater group in Delhi. She started her career in films with a 2010 film Madholal Keep Walking. She was finally noticed by audience as well as critics in the film Tanu Weds Manu in which she played the role of Payal, lead actress Kangana Ranaut?s best friend, for which she won several nominations and also the Best Supporting Actress award conferred by the Zee Cine Awards.
